COUPE DU REF CW 2011

DSC04372.JPG

Hi all,

The contest is over, another great CONTEST week-end !

My objective to cross 1.000.000 points is finally not reached, I needed only 9-10 QSOs more... But with logging almost 100 QSOs less than past year, I scored almost 100.000 points more : not so bad !

In my opinion, many DDFMs were missing on the air, compared to the past year...

A little opening on 10M the Sunday morning, many DDFMs could be logged on 20M, some on 15M.

Called by JR6GIM, YC3TKH, PY2OE, VE7CC, CN8YR (3 bands tnx Med !) & many UA9/0 on 80M to 15M  for the "DXs"...

For my personal score on 5BDDFM CW, it is +11 on 80M, +10 on 40M, +23 on 20M (), +9 on 15M & +5 on 10M !!

Here's my final claimed score :

Hi all,

This week-end, it is the famous Coupe du REF (CW part) !

Last year, for my first participation, I finished 9th in LP category (16th general) with 854268 points...

ref cup cw 2010

This year, my objective is to again finish in the ten firsts in LP category, and to cross 1.000.000 points for hoping being in the 5 firsts (?)

I hope a lot of people will enter the contest, especially French guys of course for multis !!!

I just made an inverted V dipole for 80M band, so my set-up will consist of the HF3B vertical for 80 & 40M, an inverted V dipole for 80M, my TH3MKIII for 10-15-20M and the 100W of my ICOM 7600. Software is Win-Test (4.7.0) as usually...

The REF Cup is a great & funny contest (but tactical too for serious contesters !), and last week-end of February, you'll have the opportunity to join the SSB part if some DDFM (French Departments) are missing to you.

Don't hesitate to call, you will for sure be answered !

CU in the contest...

Hi all,

This week-end it was the MMC on 144MHz CW, I took part with my modest conditions (20W in 11 Elts) during the little free time I could find...

On Saturday I thought the propagation was really poor, and so I would log more QSOs the next day. Finally the Sunday was worst, ugly conditions in SW France (as the WX), while Center Europe was spotting and spotting QSOs...

At the final, only 19 QSOs for me, my ODX is TM0W at 520 kms in JN36BP, and a new locator JN27 + new DDFM 21 thanks to F6HJO/P, new DDFM 83 thanks to F5KJB/P (JN23WE), new DDFM 32 thanks to F8BMG (JN03JQ), and new DDFM 82 thanks to F5FDC (JN04SC).

A special thanks also to F6HTJ (JN12KQ) for my 19th QSO during the very last minute of the Contest !

The log has just been sent to the corrector, thanks to all for the points !

This week-end, it was a big contest for digi-modes addicts : the CQ WW RTTY !

I am not really QRV on digital modes, so it was an opportunity for me to use my Signalink-USB ! A very very little entry (some minutes here & here because QRL) in the contest, just in order to test my interface & software in pile-up conditions, still 100W in my little vertical.

I could log again 6V7X Enrico on 10 & 15M RTTY (2nd & 3rd QSO, 2 new band mode),

6V7X.JPG

and also on 15M RTTY, ZX2B, K4FJ & FY1FL :

cqwwrtty.JPG

The "good one" for me was in the evening with T70A on 80M RTTY (my last missing band for San Marino !! )

Hope you had fun in this contest...

Hi all,

Since some days, the REF CW & SSB 2010 results are online, and I'm very proud for my very first participation to finish n° 9 in Low Power category in CW part, 16th for general !!!

ref-cw-f8dzy.JPG

It was a nice challenge without any beam from my previous QRA ! 2 verticals (the HF3B by IT9ZMX for (160) 80-40M, my actual little vertical ITA OTURA for the others bands and 100W from the ICOM 7600...

My department 47 (Lot-et-Garonne) finishes at the 2nd place, wow ! what a nice result !

ref-cw-dpt-ssb.JPG

For the SSB part, I was QRV only some hours in order to validate my participation ; so no challenge for me, I am 169th (133th in Low Power category)...

ref-ssb-f8dzy.JPG

My department finishes at the 4th place, a nice result !

ref-ssb-dpt.JPG

The objective for me next year is clearly to stay in the ten firsts CW ops in LP category, and why not do better ???

Hi all,
Just a little free time in order to post my "results" for the Coupe du REF SSB 2010. One new DDFM on 40M (82 Tarn-et-Garonne, I now only miss Dpts 46 & 90 in SSB !!!), plus many new on 80M. I did it only on Saturday (6h30) & Sunday (1h00), in order to give points to others OMs and reach the 100 QSOs (to validate my participation). I put down my vertical HF3B on the Saturday at 1600UTC because of meteo alert...
This contest was marked by the killing storm Xynthia which crossed France during this week-end : more than 52 deaths at this day !! Floods, landslides & others sowed sadness and chaos in many French departments.

What to think of this contest's edition while some OMs lost all their pylones, antennas, houses or... life for certain persons
So, here is my very little score, unglorious, as this devastating week-end... Good luck to all.

Hi all,
That's it : it's over !

What a week-end !! I rarely had so much fun in radio / CW...
I was completely tired after but it was very exciting !
QRV 28 hours (maximum limit for single op) on the 36, here are my results :

I am VERY satisfacted of my result, for a 1st participation, it seems good...
My new HF3B antenna gave me also a very good first result !
One regret : no beam for 20-15-10M bands... only my poor litlle vertical. It was sometimes difficult to hear some guys but the other point of view is that my sigs were going everywhere at the same time... see :
UA9DXVE9DX
Working Europe, UA9DX then VE9DX (for example) is the advantage of a vertical... I was very impressed by DX stations joining the REF CW Contest !
About new band slots, well it is :
80M => 1 new Zone (n°4 thanks to W9ZR & N8NO) & 6 new DXCC (4X, 7X, ES, FG/F6AUS, YL & VE)...
40M => 2 new DXCC 4J (4J9M) & FY (FY5FY)
On 20M & 15M , nothing new... (no QSO on 10M).
Great "DX moments": being called on 80M by FG/F6AUS, 7X2ARA, 4Z5TK... on 40M with again 4Z5TK, 4Z4DX, FY5FY, 4J9M & USA... on 20M with HQ3K, LU5OM, VE9DX, CN8YR, H2E & a looooot of UA9 (plus so many European Russia OMs... how much where you guys ?? )
About french departments : 79 on 80M, 71 on 40M, 10 on 20M & 1 on 15M (thank you Philippe F2FZ for 4 bands ! ). This is not really a "good" score but I was working in RUN most of the time, so chasing multipliers wasn't my priority...

Some spots on Cluster...
cluster

The "station" in very cooooold garage... Can't wait for my next QRA and real shack!!
DSC03038

Thank you so much to all for this great CW week-end, your QSL is needed for most of the QSOs and anyway kindly appreciated for any award...
All QSOs are uploaded on LotW and QSLs will be sent via Bureau !
CU next time...
